Just wandered on to Delias.com, which is sort of like Alloy, has cute stuff but is just thismuch too pricey for what you get for my taste. HOWEVER, also like Alloy, they are rocking the clearance items at the moment. Look at the reasonably priced pretties I found!!

Ok, normally I would say $55 is WAYYYY too much to spend on an everyday dress, and I was surprised to see this price on Go Jane (actually I think they have raised their prices a bit lately, too bad, any higher and I'm history) but this dress fulfilled 2 of my recent shopping fantasies, one being a maxi dress that actually looked like it might flatter someone with boobs and the second being a tie-dye piece that didn't make me want to blind myself with a fork. It's pretty cute, wouldn't you say? Its SO cute I'm ALMOST considering the price tag..... hmmmmm

OHMYGOD, what is happening to you Amanda, you say? Have tie-dye loving aliens secretly replaced you with a peace sign weilding pod person? I know I know, 2 pieces in one day.... I was surprised too, my friends. But I could ACTUALLY see myself wearing this piece. Ombre always looks cheap to me, and this just looks a little classier. Dunno. Go ahead, shoot me. The power of a good print is that it can totally enrapture you in a way that a plain color could never accomplish. This print is MOST EXCELLENT, as Bill and Ted would say, although I don't think they would appreciate its charm (its not neon or guitar related, after all)

The Neon Wayfarer ($8)


It all started, I think, with my first viewing of the album cover for MGMT's album "Oracular Spectacular":

I don't know what hit me about this picture (the album, BTW, is definitely my FAV album of the year - SO FANTASTIC), perhaps it was the free and enthusiastic usage of neon, but something struck me as SO 80's about this in a way that surpassed ALL of the 80's throwback so far. Then, while I was at Coachella (the big music festival out near Palm Springs that we frequent every year), I kept seeing all these guys looking very, well, 80's. Not 80's-American Apparel-throwback-indie-trendy, but 80's. With mullets and Corey Feldman does Michael Jackson glasses. And they were totally serious. But I figured, hey, it's the desert, people are weird at Coachella (you see some STRANGE fashion choices). Then I see these neon sunglasses on Urban Outfitters' website, and that is when I KNOW - we have crossed the line from 80's as kitch throwback to rekindling a love affair with things that should have died a permanent death. What's next? Are we destined to return to a time when THIS is what people aspire to look like?

(and who the hell is that guy in the top left corner? did I just forget him? Was he the Poochie of SBTB?)

Ok.... breathe..... ok. Whoa. Am I just REALLY REALLY late to the BITTEN party or what? Until this morning, I had no idea that fashionista/star extraoridinaire Sarah Jessica Parker had her own line called Bitten exclusively available at Steve & Barry's around the country. Well, you say, lots of stars have their own lines, big deal. Well, would an antire line for under $20 be a big deal!?!?!? Pretty much everything I saw on the site was $8.98. I'll say it again. EIGHT NINETY EIGHT!!!!! Wow. GO SJP. She is endlessly cool. She could EASILY have started an overpriced line and people would have bought it. You know they would have. But instead she did this. Some cute finds:

JEWELRY FEVER!

I just realized this morning that I have not blogged about jewelry at all. So I aim to remedy that with this entry. First I will say that some cheap jewelry (costume jewelry or non) is cool, and some isn't. BUT you can find really amazing stuff if you look for it. I will totally admit to scooping up jewelry at the doller store from time to time, and very often it is the case that these exact pieces get the most complements of any jewelry I wear.
